When we feel alive, we feel connected, and when we feel connected, we feel alive. Psychotherapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) work to support growth through understanding and help clients to find relief. Clients begin to develop trust in themselves, their emotions, and experiences, and increase their capacity for ease and connection.
DBT utilises a cognitive-behavioural approach. It helps identify thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions that make life harder and helps people to learn different ways of thinking that will make life easier. Central to DBT is learning to regulate emotions. A necessary first step in learning to properly identify, name and regulate emotions is increasing mindfulness to current emotions and thoughts. This makes mindfulness a core part of treatment. This is a skills-based approach which utilises structured home practices.
